Laurel leaves are also a symbol of victory or achievement. Crowns made of laurel leaves were often given to the winners of contests in ancient Greek and Roman times. Masons consider the laurel symbol to signify the hopeful expectation of success in the search for the True Word. In the Bible, laurel is an emblem of prosperity and fame. Baltimore Album quilts often contain religious symbols of symbols that are meaningful to Masons or Oddfellows.
