The original quilt, now in the collection of the Lovely Lane Museum in Baltimore, was given to the Reverend Hezekiah Best as he was leaving the interdenominational Seaman's Bethel, where he had been chaplain from 1844 to 1847. Notice how the border on this little quilt has been ruched, using fabric similar to the background. |
