2014 Quilt Shows
2014 has been a year of national exhibitions for BAS quilts. "A Is for Appliqué," a display made up of 30-32 quilts with a variety of appliqué in size and style, was a feature of the Mancuso Show Management. Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XXV, Hampton, VA; Quilt Fest of New Jersey X, Somerset, NJ; World Quilt Show-New England XII, Manchester, NH; PA National Quilt Extravaganza XXI, greater Philadelphia Area; and Quiltfest Oasis Palm Springs, Palm Springs, CA showcased the needle artistry of our members.
In June 2014, BAS participated as the "Invitational Exhibit" at the Annual Annapolis Quilt Guild Show, "Quilts by the Bay." In addition to showcasing the needle artistry of our members, we also presented demonstrations on several specialized appliqué techniques, as well as lectures on both our ongoing BAS project to assist in the preservation and documentation of antique quilts and textiles in the Maryland Historical Society collection and the Star Spangled Banner Flag Project.
Christmas Stocking Contest
The Baltimore Applique Society members shared their appreciation to the United Methodist Conference Center (UMCC), for our new meeting location, by a special donation of member made Christmas stockings. The stockings will be donated to the Head Start Program in Howard County and filled by UMCC for distribution to children, from newborn to five years old, at their annual Christmas party in December.
